the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism.

representative will be available at the SSIEM desk which will be located within the Registration
Area throughout the Symposium.
Travel Support Scholarships
Each year the Society funds a number of Travel Scholarships to enable those working in the
field of inborn errors of metabolism
to attend the SSIEM Annual Symposium. Applications
must include: Applications must be received by 10-May-2010.
A decision will be made within
4 weeks of the closing date. Applicants should be under 35 years of age but do not need to
be a member of the SSIEM. Applications will not be considered if the correct procedure is not
adhered to and will not be awarded
to those who received a scholarship the previous year.
Applications from a single unit/department must be ranked by the Head of Department.
Apply by submitting the following:
1. A copy of the scientific abstract submitted to the annual symposium.
(Later rejection of the abstract will not preclude the award of a Travel Scholarship.)
2. A brief summary of your career and interest in inborn errors of metabolism
3. A detailed estimate of costs. The award will be up to €1,000 (One thousand Euro) to
cover travel, conference registration and reasonable incidental expenses
4. A letter detailing the need for financial support from your Head of Department or from a senior colleague

ERNDIM WORKSHOP
The pre- symposium annual ERNDIM workshop will be held on August 31, Tuesday morning with parallel meetings for Diagnostic Proficiency Scheme participants followed by a joint ERNDIM workshop which is open to all SSIEM participants. Participants of the Annual SSIEM Symposium who are interested in taking part in the ERNDIM workshop are kindly asked to refer either to the ERNDIM website http://www.erndim.org, the Symposium website www.ssiem2010.com, where a special section will soon open and/or contact Dr. Mick Henderson, Department of Clinical Chemistry, St James University Hospital of Leeds (e-mail to: mick.henderson@leedsth.nhs.uk). |
