Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 2010 SSIEM Annual Symposium,
which is to take place between August 31 and September 3, 2010 in Istanbul. Istanbul is one of
the truly romantic cities of the world, with its land spanning both Asia and Europe and divided
by the scenic waters of the Bosphorus. I am pleased to inform you that Istanbul has been
declared the cultural capital of Europe for 2010.
Since the onset of the new millennium, we have experienced tremendous technological
developments, breakthroughs of which are newly discovered metabolic disorders and new
diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. SSIEM meetings always serve as the best venue to
discuss these advancements and their implications.
Past SSIEM Symposiums have received praise for the many plenary sessions, keynote lectures,
free communications, and poster presentations on various hot topics of inborn errors of
metabolism, and the 2010 SSIEM meeting will be no exception. Not only does this meeting
facilitate an all-embracing discussion of the vast array of metabolic problems, it also creates a
platform in which scientists can share their opinions and experiences, make new friends and
develop joint projects. The beautiful atmosphere offered by Istanbul will, I am sure, create an
ideal background for scientific and social encounters. Participants will have sufficient time to
discover the natural and historical beauties of Istanbul through the social program planned by
the Local Organizing Committee.
The 2010 SSIEM Symposium will be held at the Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Center
(ICEC), which offers an outstanding combination of state-of-the-art facilities and superior
service.
